Let me ask you a few questions.
Do you tend to misplace your car keys?
Any trouble concentrating on a current task?
Or how about that appt you had made for your son or daughter?
Most of us just joke and say “we are getting old”. Yet that saying used to be vocalized by 50 year olds and up. Yet, now it seems those in their 30s and 40s are also using this phrase.
So are they really considered “senior moments”?
The reality is this is a real issue that most just brush off as funny or not important.
Something could be damaging the central area of your brain which is the same area that is in charge of your memory, concentration and focus.
Not good is it?
Well, there is some good news and that is you can do something about this.
You can reverse this.
There is a legit cause of these “Brain Farts” or what some would call “Brain Fog” that clouds your memory and mental clarity.
Here are some key lifestyle change to remedy this.
1. Improve Your Diet
Consuming a diet that has more than enough sugar, additives or trans-fats in a way KILL your brain cells by increasing the internal inflammation within your body.
Chronic internal inflammation is responsible for many various diseases and may lead to healthy brain cells becoming damaged. Essentially your brain starts to atrophy or shrink.
You can lower this internal inflammation by replacing trans-fats with healthy essential fats, consume more fiber and natural fruits and vegetables that provide powerful anti-oxidants.
2. Reduce Exposure To Environment Toxins
I know this may be one of the hardest things to do because many environmental toxins are out of our control and unless we lived in a bubble we are going to be exposed.
Though there are some that we do have some control over and that is mercury, PCB’s and other pollutants we may inherit from the foods we choose, the shampoos we use, soaps and other household products we use or purchase.
These pollutants build up in our bodies over time and this can lead to higher internal inflammation that we discussed above in #1.
One way to lower the buildup of these harmful toxins is by following a detoxifying diet and program once every 10-12 weeks. This will help clear out any buildup of these toxins within your colon and elsewhere.
You may also find that you lose some weight every time you do this.
3. Keep Your Stress Under Control
So how does stress cause us to have “Brain Farts or Brain Fog”?
If you didn’t know the number 1 stress hormone is called cortisol.
Cortisol is a pro-inflammatory hormone that surprise surprise increases internal inflammation both in your body and in your brain.
I bet you didn’t know that this thing called internal inflammation is as bad as this. Especially since you don’t feel it or see it.
That is also why this chronic inflammation is so dangerous because it builds and builds until a disease is triggered and you are diagnosed.
Stress may also cause your body to have sugar imbalances that increases fatigue and can damage brain cells.
Some solutions to controlling your stress are exercise, yoga, controlled breathing, and meditation.
These are all great ways to lower your stress levels and minimize the damage caused by the pro-inflammatory hormone cortisol that rears its ugly head when your stress levels are high.
Regardless of your age you may be impacted by what most would consider harmless “Brain Farts”.
Don’t ignore them especially if you find that it is occurring more frequently.
Implement the techniques above to minimize any internal damage and optimize your brain for mental clarity at all times.
