Real Life Fad Diets
Monday, November 21st, 2011Healthy Diets That Fight Metabolic Syndrome
Tuesday, August 9th, 2011Metabolic syndrome is a sneaky condition that develops if you’re not eating right. Even if fad diets help you lose weight, you still might be in danger of things like high triglycerides or insulin resistance.
One important caution about metabolic syndrome is that it has nothing to do with body weight. Muscle mass and fat mass both contribute to your weight on the scale, so it is more beneficial to be aware of your body composition. A person who has little lean muscle, more fat mass, and excess fat around the middle of their body is typically at risk of having insulin resistance and developing metabolic syndrome.
Of course, the opposite person, who has more lean muscle and less fat, is in a safer state. This person probably follows guidelines of healthy diets that include eating right and exercising.
Here’s how to eat healthy to ward off metabolic syndrome: (more…)
Don’t Let Fad Diets Lead to This Dangerous Condition
Sunday, August 7th, 2011You might be at risk of developing a life-altering condition and you have no idea because your doctor doesn’t mention it. It’s not the latest health catch-phrase that your friends bring up. Nobody talks about it, but it is serious.
And it could affect you if you’re not eating right.

No-Fat Fad Diets
Sunday, June 19th, 2011Eating right for healthy weight loss does not mean that all traces of fat are cut out of healthy eating plans. In fact, avoiding fat can actually be harmful.
When your body is lacking either one of two types of fats – LA or ALA – it leads to the deterioration of healthy body cells. In a scientific study using rats, fat-free diets negatively affected their growth, reproduction, and long-term health.
Signs that your diet food does not include enough LA (omega 6 fatty acids) are infertility, poor wound healing, dermatitis, and hair loss. Fortunately, these ill effects can be reversed once you figure out how to eat healthy with all types of fat.
The results of ALA (omega 3 fatty acids) deficiency are less distinct, but that does not mean that lacking ALA is no cause for concern. (more…)

One more thing to consider for healthy weight loss
Sunday, April 10th, 2011
Healthy weight loss requires that you have knowledge about many things: eating right, exercising appropriately, and cooking healthy. There’s one more thing to add to the list that you probably never considered.
Hormones.
Knowing how your hormones work is essential to being able to take advantage of healthy diets and eating plans. Obesity causes an important hormone – leptin – to malfunction. It starts performing its job more often and eventually becomes inefficient. At this point, it is unable to signal to your brain that you are full and should stop eating. So you might consume healthy meals full of appropriate diet food and still feel hungry.
You can’t diagnose yourself with a malfunctioning hormone, but there is a way to ensure balance by eating right. (more…)
