Cheat days are helpful and we’re not talking about fad diets

Some people hear supposed healthy weight loss tips about including cheat days in their diet plans, and they think they’re learning about the newest fad diets.

Let’s clear up the confusion and go over the science behind this topic.

Cheat days are, in fact, helpful in weight loss plans.  Diet plans that use calorie or nutrient restriction to lead to weight loss manipulate a hormone called leptin.  Continuous calorie restriction causes leptin levels to drop until they hit the bottom and quick weight loss has turned into no weight loss.

What could raise leptin levels and allow for more fat loss again?

You guessed it… cheat days.

Include a cheat day here and there during your weight loss diet and let your friends know that you’re doing something productive, not following a new fad diet.
