Studying up on how to eat healthy might do just as much good for your health as actually eating right.

A proven way to add months onto your life is to continue your education for subsequent years after you’ve graduated from high school or even college.

Apparently, being educated in any field or skill changes the direction of your life. It causes you to think more about the importance of your health. You also tend to become more aware of your options for healthy diets and lifestyles, as well as the end results of good and bad choices. You become more willing and able to make smart decisions, such as quitting smoking or wearing a helmet on a motorcycle.

If learning more about anything – literally, any subject matter – lets you live a longer, fuller life, just imagine what health education can do for you.

Making a commitment to actively seek out and try new diet foods, keep up to date on exercise tips for healthy weight loss, stay on top of information about fad diets: the education alone will add months to your life. The healthy diets put into practice will add years!

Notice the big parallel between these two ideas. It is up to you to go out and get the education. Whether you sign up for a computer class at the local community college or you schedule a meeting with a nutritionist to talk about how to eat healthy, it is you that takes the initiative to improve your life.

Who is better with healthy eating and seeing results from healthy diets?

If you had to guess who is more obese – men or women – which would you say? We’re not talking about the heaviest people, but the percentage of each group that is considered overweight or obese.

Think about different contexts where healthy weight loss and gain are noticeable. Do you see more men or women walking around with extra weight around their midsections? Which gender do you notice eating right at a restaurant instead of splurging? Who is represented more at your gym?

We all have different experiences and are a part of different environments, so we would probably come to different conclusions about which sex is better at healthy diets.

The facts from the CDC are as follows. More women than men are accounted for as being at healthy weights and having healthy BMIs, and there are more men than women who have overweight or obese statuses.

Congratulations to the women for knowing how to eat healthy and implementing all the other lifestyle changes that help them achieve healthy weight loss and keep it off.

We could talk about the reasons these results might be skewed, like the fact that it is a snapshot of a moment in time and does not guarantee that people will stay at healthy weights for the rest of their lives.

The point is that both men and women should be looking at what they can do to start eating right so that, in the future, we don’t even have to talk about obesity and unhealthy weight.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to adding a bigger variety of fruits and vegetables to your healthy eating plans.

They say variety is the spice of life.

Variety is also how to eat healthy if you want to take advantage of all the types of good nutrition that are found in fruits and vegetables. Your body needs all of it for healthy living and healthy weight loss, so why not do all you can to get all the good nutrition that is out there, instead of just some of it?

There are several methods of eating right that provide you with all the vitamins, minerals, fiber, protein, antioxidants, and even good fats that are imperative to healthy eating. One way is to include a vegetable and fruit in all healthy meals, and eat a different kind every day.

Healthy diets can be more interesting if you get creative and figure out how to use a variety of fruits and vegetables in diet food that you already make or want to eat. For example, think of all the veggies that can be added to mashed potatoes: turnips, chopped greens, onions, peppers, garlic. Toss the dried versions of your favorite fruits into oats as they boil, and watch your personal oatmeal creation come to life. Make your own roasted pepper and onion relish to add to sandwiches. Give yourself an excuse to eat finger food by assembling kabobs with fresh fruit or grilled vegetables.

Stir fries, omelets, and salads (fruit or vegetable) are more dishes that give you complete freedom to add as many varieties as possible, ensuring that your healthy eating plan has all the good nutrition it needs.

Do you take any of these diet pills? Are you being fooled by the empty promises? The information will enlighten you and may even shock you!

Mind games or healthy eating knowledge: which helps you follow healthy diets?

What strategies do you use to decide which diet food you are going to eat? How do you choose healthy eating over tempting less-healthy choices?

If food labels stated the amount of exercise needed to burn off the calories you would consume in one serving, would it be easier to know how to eat healthy?

A group of researchers set out to determine the answer to that question. They labeled bottled drinks (like soda, tea, and water) with different indicators: calories per serving, percent of daily recommended calories, and number of minutes of jogging required to burn off the calories.

They found that people started choosing the drinks that were less sugary, including water, and that this change happened mostly because of the exercise labels.

Perhaps these results are saying that people would do better with eating right if it was easier to grasp the concept of what each diet food or bad food does to the body. Of course calories are only a small part of the healthy weight loss process, and they are not necessarily the best indicator of healthy eating.

Ideally, a person who knows about good nutrition and how to eat healthy will choose water over soda because they have the knowledge that a soda will only give them sugar and an insulin spike, and water will hydrate and aid the digestion of other food.

Help yourself make good choices for healthy weight loss by arming yourself with healthy eating knowledge.

Exercise can lead to a lot more than just healthy weight loss; it can turn back the hands of time.

Researchers have found one part of the body that can be made to look exactly like a younger version even if it is much older in years. And the best part about this transformation is that it can be done naturally by anyone.

So where does this miraculous change take place?

In muscle tissue. And it’s far from being a miracle. All it takes is a simple exercise routine backed up by good nutrition from a healthy eating plan.

Here’s how researchers saw the change take place: older adults who started with half as much muscle mass as younger adults focused on strength-training twice a week for 6 months. By the end of this time, they made huge gains to catch up with the younger adults, and samples of muscle tissue looked almost identical between younger and older counterparts.

What strength-training does is keep mitochondria healthy so that it can perform up to par. When its performance worsens, muscle mass is lost and some muscular functions become impaired. This is when we see people become weaker, more frail, and less able to do things that they used to do in everyday life.

So, what we have heard all along is true: keep up with healthy diets and exercise to maintain a healthy and productive lifestyle long-term. You can start supporting a long and active life at any point along the journey by taking in antioxidants, like the ones found in Prograde’s Longevity, and beginning a simple yet consistent strength-training exercise routine.

Daylight Saving Time does not help or hurt healthy weight loss plans that are solidly in place.

Some of us changed our clocks this weekend and got an extra hour added to our day.

The beginning of daylight saving time in the spring (when clocks move forward) reportedly causes more accidents, heart attacks, and suicides. The end of daylight saving time, which we just experienced, can make us feel more rested.

But how does the time change relate to healthy weight loss?

For one, it means that it is lighter in the morning, which can make it easier for you to get your day started and to feel better about it. This can lead to better choices throughout the day, including how to eat healthy. However, it gets darker earlier in the evening, which might make you less active.

No matter how you might feel when these changes come around, it is important to remember how to eat healthy and maintain a lifestyle that supports healthy diets. If you stick to a consistent and healthy sleeping pattern 7 days a week, then a 1-hour time change should not have a huge affect.

And whether or not it is light outside when you wake up or get off of work should not determine your workout plans. Healthy weight loss requires a physical activity routine, and insignificant factors should not interrupt it.

Take a step back right now and remind yourself of the healthy eating, exercise, and sleeping principles that you will rely on in the upcoming winter months and holiday season.

Your healthy weight loss plans do not have to change just because the time does.

PS: Want another really cool FREE diet tip? Stop eating these foods right now that are mentioned in this video below about the 3 simple steps for effective weight loss.

Eating an apple before every meal seems as silly as other fad diets, but it actually provides a good healthy eating tip for healthy weight loss.

Have you heard of the apple diet?

Well, it doesn’t actually exist. But there is a healthy eating tip that involves consuming an apple before every meal. This healthy weight loss trick was the focus of a study, and the study found that people consumed less calories at lunch when they ate a raw apple 15 minutes before their meal.

This happened because the snack started making them feel full before they even began their meal. And it is okay to feel full from an apple because it is low in calories and high in good nutrition. Also, eating snacks right before eating healthy meals probably tricks the brain into thinking that less food needs to be eaten since something has already been consumed.

So how can a method of eating right be extracted from this information?

One thing we know that does not work is consuming just any apple product. The study also tested apple juice and applesauce containing the same amount of calories as the whole raw apple, and participants did not reduce their lunch’s calories as much. So the apple fad diet theory is out.

How to eat healthy, according to this information, is to eat a snack or small first course before each of your healthy meals. It should be diet food, something that is low in calories and will make you feel full. Apples work well because of their fiber content. Salads with raw vegetables would work in the same way.

Use this healthy weight loss tip to get yourself to eat less without feeling deprived by smaller meals.

Is your AOC high enough to decrease your risk for disease?

All of us have stress in our bodies and eating right helps us to control that stress. Most of us don’t know how much internal stress we actually have though because various tests would need to be done to determine this.

We know that eating right includes lean protein sources, but we tend to struggle with eating enough fruits and vegetables and this can cause a lower AOC level.

Good nutrition isn’t just low carb and high protein. Though there are many benefits to this for quick weight loss it doesn’t mean we are doing the best we can to improving our health.

The USDA research team conducted a study that looked at participants antioxidant capacity (AOC) before and after each meal.

Researchers and the facts we have believe that if you have a higher AOC level your body can handle the internal stress better. This internal stress is caused by something called free radicals and these come from various chemicals, pollutants and even the damage we do to our tissues.

What is scary is that the more internal stress we build up leads to a higher risk of cancer and heart disease. So good nutrition and eating right is imperative to not only losing weight, but also improving your overall health status.

In the Journal of the American College of Nutrition researchers report that those following good nutrition and who ate a diet rich in protein, carbs, and fat but not fruits and vegetables had lower AOC levels.

Some participants even had their number drop lower meaning they increased their oxidative stress by eating these foods.

When these participants ate the meals and included antioxidant rich fruits such as blackberries, strawberries and other similar foods their AOC was significantly higher.

According to this study it is smart to be eating right and include antioxidant rich fruits and vegetables such as:

Blackberries
Blueberries
Strawberries
Asparagus
Broccoli
Spinach

Now these aren’t the only fruits and vegetables you should be eating to increase your AOC level but it a good list to get you started eating right and following good nutrition.

Why have we been dieting for at least 150 years? The answer is because we want quick weight loss. Here is why we never see the quick weight loss.

Our objective to lose weight has been around much longer than any of us have thought. How to lose weight programs date back at least 150 years.

Even though we have been trying to lose weight for at least 150 years our waistlines are bigger than ever and we have an obesity epidemic on our hands.

So what gives. Why have we gotten worse instead of better in regards to trying to lose weight. I mean we have had 150 years to get it right.

Let me shed some light as to why.

First we have to understand it is difficult to lose weight. Excess fat just doesn’t miraculously fall off. We have to obviously burn more calories then we consume, but we first have to change our eating behaviors, the types of foods we eat, why we eat and our exercise habits.

Then and only then can we focus on eating less calories than what we use. Believe it or not some of the same methods we attempt now were used 50, 70 and even 100 years ago.

First there was William Banting and his attempt to lose 50 pounds in a year. He did so by reducing his carbohydrate intake. Before there were scientific studies William found that by not overeating with bread, potatoes, sugars, etc he was able to lose those 50 pounds. He even wrote a letter to the public titled "Letter on Corpulence".

In 1894 the government first advised to balance proteins, carbs and fat and soon after that the life insurance companies started raising rates for those who were overweight because they felt it increased the risk for early death.

Then in 1903 there was soap called La Parle Obesity Soap and its claim or slogan was "never fails to reduce flesh". This sold for $2 at that time which was quite expensive. I wonder if this is where the "snake oil" term was created?

In 1940 there were advertisements for a laxative called Bile Beans. You probably know the outcome of this attempt so I don’t need to go into details regarding the effects.

Diet foods soon followed and have continued to grow to what we see today. Yet we are larger than ever. What gives? What didn’t we learn along the way?

What happened to William Banting’s Letter of Corpulence describing how he cut back on excess carbs and sugar to lose the weight?

Why did all this magic potions follow in the years to come?

Well, for one thing I know most don’t like to work to lose weight. They would rather sit on the couch and do nothing to lose weight. Most also don’t want to change their eating habits to lose weight. They would rather continue indulging in the excess sugar and unhealthy foods.

This is why all the magic potions started appearing. You see this mindset was happening 100 years ago. Maybe we were ingrained with this mindset, which brings me back to something I mentioned at the beginning of this post.

We Need To Change Our Eating Behaviors

You see William had the right answer all they way back in 1863. He changed his eating behavior to lose the 50 pounds.

That is what most of us need to do as well. If you are still reading this means that you understand the concept and that it makes sense. Now let’s set a goal of putting this concept into action.

Look at what you are currently doing regarding your eating habits. I am sure you probably know what you are supposed to be doing. So write out 3 things you are going to do to improve your eating behavior. When you master those 3 things write down 3 new things and start going after those.

Most of us only need to change 3-6 things in our eating behavior and we will be well on our way to losing all the weight we desire.

Don’t procrastinate!

Get started right now writing down the first 3 changes you will make to your eating behavior.

Have you read this eye opening report about fish oil that a colleague and I created? The information will enlighten you and may even shock you!

Discover why Green Tea is becoming more and more the powerful nutrient that we believe it to be. It appears to get even more powerful once digested according to this.

I have another weight loss tip for you today and this is a drink you should be adding to your healthy eating plans if you haven’t already.

Eating right means consuming the proper foods and following the correct healthy eating tips so that you can live a healthier life or lose weight.

Many of us already know about all the great benefits of green tea and some may not. Green tea has been a very popular researched nutrient the past few years because of all its amazing benefits to our health. Green tea can be added to your healthy eating plans to help you lose weight, fight off free radicals and even possibly prevent various diseases and illnesses.

A newly published study has shown that the protective properties of green tea may be even more powerful that what we thought. When digested the scientists in this study saw the power of the green tea actually become even more powerful.

In particular the polyphenols in green tea protect our brain cells by attaching themselves to hydrogen peroxide and amyloid beta, which are toxic compounds that tend to be elevated for those who have Alzheimers.

What the scientists discovered was that when green tea was digested the compounds in the green tea were more effective in protecting against the triggers of Alzheimers.

They also found that these digested polyphenol compounds also have anticancer properties that slowed down the growth of tumor cells.

We know that green tea has been used in alternative medicine for hundreds of years and that this study shows that green tea may also be pretty effective against various diseases and help to protect our cells.

Make sure you drink up and include green tea as part of your healthy eating plans whether it be to help you lose weight or just for its overall health benefits.

You can’t go wrong adding it to your diet plans and overall good nutrition.
