If you are a busy person … aren’t we all? … and trying to really take the concepts of healthy diets to heart, there is one big thing you need to be aware of. Convenience foods. These are the foods that come packaged with some of the preparation steps already done for you, and they are not healthy eating shortcuts like you might want to believe.
Some convenience foods do contain wholesome ingredients. After all, a bag of frozen seasoned vegetables contains a staple diet food, right? Of course vegetables need to be in your diet, but their good nutrition can be overshadowed by all the ingredients and artificial additives that are thrown in.

If you have kids, or have ever been around kids when they choose their favorite snacks, you know what they like to eat most: bright, colorful, sweet or salty snacks. What kid doesn’t get excited over chewy red, green, purple, orange, and yellow “fruit” snacks? Or bright orange chips that turn their fingers a funny color?
What is a whole grain carb? What’s a good carb? A bad carb? When am I supposed to be eating some of these carbs in my healthy meals?
